Browsing & discovery

Find movies by title, person, genre or curated lists.

Use the search page. Enter a title, a person’s name, or a genre. With an empty search you’ll see a genre grid and recommended collections to start from.

Open the A–Z browse from the footer (or any letter link). Each letter shows movies whose title starts with that letter, with filters and pagination.

Visit the movies section to browse the full catalog we publish here.

Popular highlights titles we feature as trending or noteworthy. It is updated from our editorial list, so it is not a pure view-count chart.

Each genre has its own page (for example from search results or links on the site). There you can sort and filter movies the same way as on the A–Z browse. Open search and choose a genre if you are unsure where to start.

Collections are curated lists of movies (themes, franchises, staff picks). Open one from the homepage rows or from search recommendations when no query is entered.

We do not list every title ever made. If you cannot find a movie, it may simply not be in our catalog yet, or the title differs slightly. Try the original title, an alternative spelling, or search by the lead actor or director on the search page.

Account & library

Optional free account for watchlist, history and personal settings.

No. Browsing, search and playback are open to everyone. A free account only adds personal features such as a watchlist and a watch history.

Open the register page and create a free account with your email address. After registration we send you a verification link – click it to activate your account.

Check your spam or junk folder first. The mail is sent automatically right after registration. If it still hasn’t arrived after a few minutes, request a new one from the verification screen after logging in, or contact us.

When logged in, you can save movies for later from any movie page. Your saved titles appear on your account page. The watchlist is private and only visible to you.

If you are logged in, movies you open are recorded as a personal history so you can quickly continue where you left off. You can clear the history at any time from your account page.

Filmo is and stays free to use. We finance the platform through advertising on third-party players and through our editorial work – there is no paid subscription.

Playback issues, support & device restrictions

Tips when a video does not start, freezes or refuses to play.

Filmo does not host any video files. We link to media hosted by third-party providers, and playback happens on those services. That means the player you see, ads inside the player, and the available quality come from the provider, not from us.

Try the most common fixes in this order: 1) reload the page, 2) try a different mirror/host on the movie page if available, 3) disable ad blockers or privacy extensions for that page, 4) clear your browser cache and cookies, 5) restart your browser, 6) try another browser. In most cases one of these steps resolves the issue within seconds.

Use a current version of a modern browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave or Safari. Outdated browsers often miss the codecs and DRM features that streaming providers require, which is the most common reason a video stays black or shows an error.

Yes, this is very common. Aggressive ad blockers, script blockers, VPN extensions or "privacy" tools can stop the player from loading. Try opening the page in an incognito/private window with extensions disabled. If it works there, re-enable extensions one by one to find the culprit.

Clear cookies and site data for the provider domain, make sure JavaScript is enabled, and check that no parental control or DNS filter is blocking the host. Mobile data networks sometimes throttle streaming – switching to Wi-Fi often fixes that.

External providers may apply geo-restrictions for licensing reasons. We have no influence on which countries a host accepts. If a player shows a region error, the title is simply not licensed for your location through that host.

Filmo itself works on any device with a modern browser. Whether the embedded player works depends on the provider: most are mobile-friendly, but some Smart TV browsers, game consoles or older devices have limited HTML5/DRM support and may not play every host. On those devices, switching the host or using a phone/laptop usually helps.

Hosts sometimes take videos offline. Use the report button next to the broken link if available, or contact us with the movie title – we will update the entry.

Subtitles & captions

How language tracks and subtitles are handled by the players we embed.

No. Subtitles depend entirely on the video file and the host. Some uploads ship with hard-coded subtitles burnt into the picture, some offer selectable subtitle tracks inside the player, and others have no subtitles at all. We cannot add subtitles to a third-party stream ourselves.

When the host supports them, look for a "CC", "Subtitles" or speech-bubble icon inside the video player (usually near the volume or settings button). Open it and pick the desired language. If no such option appears, the current source has no selectable subtitle track.

In that case the subtitles are burnt into the video itself ("hard subs"). They are part of the picture and cannot be disabled in the player. Try a different host on the movie page – another upload may not have hard subs.

Only languages the provider offers as separate tracks are switchable. If your language is not in the list, you can try another host for the same movie or use an external subtitle player on your computer (e.g. picture-in-picture with a desktop subtitle tool).

Sync issues come from the source file. Reload the page and try again, or switch to another host. We unfortunately cannot adjust timing on third-party streams.

Ads on Filmo

Why you see ads, and how to keep them under control.

Filmo is free to use. Running and maintaining the site, the editorial work, the database, hosting and bandwidth all cost money – ads are the only way for us to keep this project running without a paid subscription. Most ads you see in the player itself come from the streaming providers we embed, not from Filmo directly.

Most pop-ups are triggered by the embedded player. They typically only appear on the first click into the player and can be closed instantly – it usually takes a second to dismiss them. After the first click playback should continue normally.

We work with reputable ad networks and do everything we can to filter malicious ads. Still, we cannot vouch for every creative shown by external networks or by the streaming providers. Keep your browser, OS and antivirus up to date and avoid downloading software that ads tell you to install.

There is currently no paid ad-free plan. The best way to support us is to use Filmo regularly, share movies with friends, and report broken links so we can keep the catalog clean. If that ever changes, we will announce it on the site.

No. Filmo is a normal website – we never install software, browser extensions or background scripts on your device. If a page asks you to install a "codec", "update" or "player", that is an ad or a fake provider page – do not install it.

Settings & deleting your free account

Change your email or password, or remove your account entirely.

Open your account settings. From there you can request an email change (we send a confirmation link to the new address) and set a new password.

You can delete your account yourself at any time. Open account settings and use the "Delete account" section at the bottom of the page. After confirmation, your profile, watchlist and history are removed from Filmo.

No. Account deletion is permanent. Once your data has been removed we cannot restore your watchlist, history or settings. If you only want a break, simply log out instead.

Use the password-reset link on the login page. We will send a reset link to the email address on your account. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, please contact us.

Logged-in users can open a support ticket from the support area in their account. For everything else, the contact page is the fastest way to reach us.

Ratings, release info & metadata

How year, runtime and ratings are calculated and where they come from.

Details such as release year, runtime and community ratings come from our database (often aligned with TMDB-style fields). They are informative only and may differ from other listings.

Metadata is updated regularly, but mistakes happen. Please use the contact page with the movie title and the field that is incorrect – we will check and update the entry.

Films often have several international titles. We try to show the localized title for your language but keep the original title visible too, so you can find the movie regardless of where you remember the name from.

Legal, contact & takedowns

Imprint, privacy, copyright and how to reach us.

Use contact for general questions. Operator details are available in the imprint.

For copyright concerns, please use the DMCA / takedown page. Include the disputed URL and proof of ownership so we can act quickly.

See our terms of use and privacy policy. Both are linked in the footer of every page.
